Each welcome bear wood carving is individually hand-carved by Jonny at his workshop in Falkirk, Scotland, ensuring that no two bears are ever exactly the same. Jonny has over 25 years of experience working with chainsaws, with a background in forestry, arboriculture and professional instruction. That depth of knowledge is reflected in every carving, from the selection of timber to the way each log is shaped and finished. Working primarily with green wood allows for bold forms and expressive detail, while embracing the natural movement of the timber as it dries. Over time, small cracks may appear, adding to the character and individuality of the piece.
