Chainsaw Carved Bench – Bookend Style
This chainsaw carved bench combines practical seating with bold character, creating a functional piece of outdoor furniture that also works as a statement sculpture. Designed in a distinctive bookend style, the bench features two carved ends made from halves of the same log, with the seat fitting securely between them. The back is locked in place using four large screws, ensuring a solid and stable structure once assembled.
Each chainsaw carved bench is hand-carved to order by Jonny at his workshop in Falkirk, Scotland, allowing the design to be tailored to your chosen subject or theme. From wildlife-inspired carvings to more decorative or symbolic designs, every bench is created as a one-off piece, shaped by both the timber and the brief. Using halves of the same log for the carved ends helps maintain visual balance and consistency, while celebrating the natural grain and character of the wood.
With over 25 years of experience working with chainsaws, Jonny brings a deep understanding of timber, structure and outdoor durability to every bench he creates. His background in forestry and arboriculture informs how each log is selected and worked, ensuring the bench is not only visually striking but also robust and suited to long-term outdoor use. Carved primarily from green wood, natural movement and small cracks may appear over time as the timber dries, adding to the individuality and rustic character of the finished piece.
Designed for gardens, outdoor spaces and feature seating areas, this chainsaw carved bench offers both comfort and craftsmanship. Handcrafted in Scotland, it’s ideal for those looking to commission a bespoke bench that blends artistry with everyday use.
